ABOUT DEPARTMENT

The Al-Ahwal Al-Syakhsiyyah Masters Program (S2 AS) is one of the programs at the Postgraduate Program of the State Islamic University of Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang which has achieved many proud achievements at the local, regional and national levels.

The Al-Ahwal al-Syakhsiyyah Master's Program prepares students to become professionals capable of analyzing the development of integrative, transformative, and multicultural Islamic family law. The Al-Ahwal al-Syakhsiyyah Master's Program develops graduates' competencies as professionals with intellectual skills, personal integrity, and expertise aligned with the development of Islamic family law.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To produce Master’s graduates in *al-Ahwal al-Shakhshiyyah* (Islamic Personal Law) who possess the character of *ulul albab* (people of deep understanding and intellect), critical thinking skills, and integrity.

  3. Developing academic and research networks in the field of family law at both national and global levels.
Graduate Profile

Academics

A Master of Laws possessing expertise, mastery of knowledge, and managerial capabilities as an academic in the field of Family Law—grounded in Islamic teachings and ethics, scholarly principles, and professional expertise—and characterized by the *ulul albab* spirit.

Researchers

A Master of Laws possessing the ability to plan, conduct, publish, and manage research in the field of Family Law—aligned with the latest scientific advancements and grounded in Islamic teachings and ethics—while demonstrating scholarly competence and expertise characterized by the *ulul albab* spirit.

Mujtahid

A Master of Law capable of developing concepts, sources, methods, and theories for family law reform, and able to offer legal grounding for contemporary Islamic legal issues—drawing upon legal sources and the principle of public interest (*maslahah*)—grounded in Islamic teachings and ethics, scholarly knowledge, and expertise characterized by the *ulul albab* spirit.

Practitioner

Master of Laws who is able to decide civil law cases and disputes based on the field of Family Law based on Islamic teachings and ethics, knowledge and expertise with an ulul albab character.
